Temporary Protection + TIE Card in Spain for Ukrainian Citizens

Who is eligible for temporary protection?

Since 2022, Ukrainian nationals can apply for temporary protection in Spain, which grants legal residence, work rights, healthcare and social assistance. This status has been extended until March 2026.

Eligible individuals include:

• — Ukrainians who resided in Ukraine before 24 February 2022 and their close relatives.
• — Persons who had international protection in Ukraine before 24.02.2022.
• — Ukrainian citizens who were in Spain at the start of the war and cannot return safely.
• — Foreigners with a Ukrainian residence permit who cannot safely return to their home country.

Important: If you have already received temporary protection in another EU country, you must renounce it before applying in Spain. Otherwise, the police may reject your application.
